My future with filmmaking?

With everything changing with YouTube with the ad revenue being limited and can’t add a link Patreon in your videos unless you have over 10K subscribers.  I only started Out of the Box back in January 2017 and I haven’t made one penny from YouTube or Patreon and only have 7 subscribers.  I am thinking of moving any new endeavors to another platform like Vimeo.com.  When I started doing The Radical Geek I looked into hosting my videos there but went with another platform.  I have been working on some screenplays for a sci-fi/fantasy anthology series like The Twilight Zone or Amazing Stories.  If I do change hosts I think Vimeo might be better because it is more focused on the filmmaker community.  Also, they have some groups that focus on sci-fi.

Bigger and Better Things?

On Friday February 19, 2016 I quit my job at Paychex and am going to start a new job on Monday February 22, 2016.  I am excited to start a new job and nervous also.  Paychex was a good company to work for and I had a job doing support for an online time tracking program called Time and Labor Online.  The problem with that was it wasn’t in Information Technology and more of account management with billing and cancellation we had to perform.

I am going into a I.T. position where I will be supporting network print services.  The position is a step up from my former one and the pay is 21% better.  This is the kind of job I was looking to get when I graduated college and that has me nervous.  The reason why is back in 1999 a year after I graduated from RIT with a BS in I.T.  I had this nice paying job starting out in a company’s IT department.  I had hopes and dreams of a future, but after 6 weeks I was fired.  I was a poor performer at my job because of my A.D.D. and my inexperience.   I now have good meds, experience and maturity, but it still a nagging feeling that I might not have it after 6 weeks.  I hope for the best and preparing for the worst.  I will keep you posted.

Floatball: Future Sport

When I was in Jr High(1985-87) I remember this Foot Locker commercial during the Superbowl.  (Superbowl Ad)  It showed this futuristic sport with players are flying and trying to get a ball into a goal that was the size of the ball.  Some players had an arm cannon to launch the ball why others had a scoop on one hand to catch and throw the ball.  This kinda stuck with me, and inspired me to create a future sport that was in zero-gee called Pargon.  The more I looked into weightlessness it has evolved over time to be Floatball.
The rules were taken from Team Handball/Water Polo and goes as follows.  The playing area is an enclosed space that is 20-30m wide by 15-20m deep by 2.5-3m high (Partly based on water polo pool), so there is no out of bounds.  There were poles placed throughout the “field” so players can change direction.  Goals where in the end walls 2.5 meters wide and meter high with bars along the opening for the goalie to hold on to.  There is 7 players to a side: 1 goalie and 6 field players (i.e. water polo and team handball).   Playing time was divided into 4 quarters of 8 minutes.  Goals are worth 1 point.
Game would start with the ball in the center with one player for each team would do a jump ball/face off where one would push off the floor with another player off the ceiling.  Penalties would be spearing where a player would charge head or shoulder first into another player.  Holding onto another player and an push off where you would launch yourself off another player.

Questionable Future

I have mentioned in earlier posts that season 4 may or may not happen because of lack of original content.  I am going to brainstorm for future episodes and see if it is feasible.  I will keep you posted.

2 episodes left

I have not forgotten to finish season 3 of the Radical Geek.  I have 2 more episodes to do to finish it off.  As for future episodes I don’t know if there will be a season 4.  It is getting harder to get to the location and interview the people.  I haven’t given up podcasting all together.  I plan to have either do a new podcast or thinking about crowd funding that documentary about DRM.  That I will have more out after I finish the season.
